I almost always find myself upset by Israeli foreign policy decisions, with American policy often in lockstep. From the limited information a civilian can suss out, my take on this one is a bit m0re nuanced. I gather that Israel had been communicating with Lebanon to take care of a weapons-filled storage locker that was either a foreign actor or not officially Lebanese government supply. Israel may have finally decided to take out the national security risk itself, and the explosive nature had more to do with the artifacts within the locker than the force of impact planned by Israel. If a year or more of reiterating for Lebanon to deal with it, and finally decided they could not have it bordering their country, 7 hours by three hour travel by car, i can only say that many countries have done far worse with a far weaker national security excuse. 9-11 for example. Also, in this case, i cannot figure out why Israel would do a one-off in Lebanon, as it has not been part of an Israeli aggressive strategy in many years or since. Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, i would raise an eyebrow but that border had not seen the geopolitical map for some time.
The most incredible thing is that I make a copy of the video posted on you tube by INL and recorded on my pc, and showed to a few friends, days later it was scrubbed out of my files together with another video of mine, to this day I still don’t know what happened to it, I can no longer open the videos. I can only rely now on the testimony of the friends that saw the video .
